Herbalism is not only about healing with medicinal herbs, it's also about preventing health problems and maintaining good health. A part of being healthy is understanding the foods we eat and how they can be beneficial to our health.
While good food provides our bodies with the nutrition we need to be healthy, many of the foods we take for granted also have the ability to heal certain illnesses.
In this series I'll be writing about healing foods from almonds through to yogurt. The list will include fruit, vegetables, nuts, and spices, and each post can be found in the Categories list under the Healing Foods Series category.
The best thing we can do to gain and maintain good health is to eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and avoid so-called junk food. Because food is readily available from take-away food outlets they have become a popular way for many people to get their daily sustenance.
Take-way food is certainly quicker and easier to obtain compared to preparing meals or snacks, but is much less healthy.
Some mistakenly believe that food from these outlets costs less than buying the ingredients and preparing the food at home. However, in most cases this is incorrect. Most bought burgers cost in the vicinity of A$10.00 and you could buy the ingredients for a healthy meal for a family of four for this amount.
What better way to eat than to choose wholesome healing foods for a snack or to include in a meal. Over the coming months, you'll be able to read about the healing abilities of many popular foods and incorporate them into your or your family's diet.
Coming soon: The first food in the series will be almonds.
I hope you enjoy each future post and find the information useful.
